Columba Leadership’s Legacy Project
Posted / 17 February 2017
Columba Leadership was one of three primary beneficiaries of The 2016 Sun International CEO SleepOut™. The event for 2016 focused on education as a way to eradicate homelessness. The three million rand that Columba Leadership received as a beneficiary of the CEO Sleepout™ will go towards running values-based leadership programmes in three schools in KwaZulu-Natal over the period of three years. Two of these academies will be run in February 2017.
Our values-based leadership programme catalyses a national movement of engaged young leaders by transforming learners into responsible, socially conscious leaders and employable, enterprising young people. Learners, with the support of adults, tackle real-life project-based learning within their communities which not only make a social contribution, but more importantly generate a sense of purpose and develop a range of skills that serve them both at school and beyond as students, employees or entrepreneurs.
85% of our tracked graduates are positively engaged in employment, further education or are volunteering after leaving school. 86% of Columban graduates obtain either a degree or diploma level matric pass.
We thank the CEO SleepOut™ and supporting partners for their contribution to the work that we do.
